IPL 5: Can Deccan Chargers survive the onslaught of Delhi Daredevils?

Delhi: On the paper, the balance of the today's match is ghastly in favor of the home team. A win in this match would take the last season's wooden spoon finisher's to the top of the point's tally. The Devils have six points from the four matches they have played so far, while the Deccan team has yet to start their score with three matches. Considering the fact, that they are playing an away game would not help their winning prospects very much.
The Deccan Chargers has looked everything other than a formidable winning combination. Their batting performance against Rajasthan Royals was their only saving grace in this series.
Kumar Sangarakka's men have looked sloppy in the fielding and bowling department. Even the coach was vocal about this concern.
He said-"We will have to work on lot of things and perhaps the boys are not listening to what is being told to them. We have to plan different strategy but the dressing room atmosphere is quiet."
Deccan chargers were seen letting the ball go pass through their feet, their bowling spearhead Daryl Styns was smashed around by the Rajasthan's batsmen. Even, Manpreet Gony was not spared on the only occasion he was given a place in the playing eleven.
All is not gloom for the Deccan Chargers. The opening pair of Sangarakka and Shikhar Dhawan have looked promosing. In fact, they hold the highest opening pair stand of this season! JP Duminy knock of 58 (26 balls) could provide the much needed inspiration for the Deccans to charge their batteries. They have not played many games (Only three) and consequently they have a comprehensive chance of bouncing back in the series.
The Delhi team would be the ideal side to beat, if the Deccan chargers are looking to see any positive light at the end of the tunnel. Playing on their home ground; splendid all-round performance in their last game against an equally competitive Mumbai Indians team; Delhi would be The Great Wall the chargers needs to climb at this juncture of their tournament.
The batting line-up of Mahela, Kevin Pietersen, and Ross Taylor is the main arsenal in the Devils team. The captain on his home ground is the lethal weapon that can awoke the opponents from their nightmares. Virender Sehwag is the top run scorer for the Delhi Daredevil team- 85 runs with an aggregate of 21.25 runs per match.
Irfan Pathan is another key player, who has been very successful with both the bat and the ball. A repeat performance by Shahbaz Nadeem (2-16) could provide the lethal and final blow to the opponent’s dreams of taking away two points from the Kotla ground. Umesh Yadav has been successful in extracting some pace and bounce-Kotla ground is a predominantly a batsman paradise, with a bit a juice in it for the bowlers-the bowler would be eagerly waiting for the captain to pass over the bowl to him. Morne Morkel-The accurate, who opens the bowling for the Delhi team, would also be hoping to make use of this fact, depending upon the toss.
